Post-Construction Treatment

Post-Construction treatment - This is a method of termite control that is carried out on a building ready for habitation or a residence that has been already occupied. It is carried out when the termites are able to penetrate from the ground and spread throughout the building to get food, damaging all wood furnitures, doors, wood frames and the like.

Advantages of Post-Site Treatment

Post-construction termite control can be done after the building is finished and ready to be inhabited or even if the building is already occupied, this method is still workable. The floor will be slightly perforated with a drill to inject chemicals and will be covered again with almost the same condition when before being perforated.

Stages of Post-Site Treatment:

  • Conduct a thorough inspection prior to treatment.
  • Clear all furniture and miscellaneous items to facilitate treatment
  • Clear all scraps of wood and garden much from underneath and the perimeter of the structure
  • Identify the location of electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, drains etc.
  • While a variety of treatment methods will be required, the final result should be:
    • - that the termiticide is applied evenly around under the building
    • - that there are no gaps left for the termites to find at a later date
    • - that the treated area should not be subsequently disturbed - discuseed the importance of this with the owner.

Post- Constructor application is significantly more challenging than Pre- Construction application due to:
• the presence of floors, walls, apron, garages, fences etc.
• the necessity to treat without damaging the structure and installations.
